New Forums

Submitted by Funar on Wed, 04/02/2008 - 10:06
Welcome to the new forums, everyone!
"Why the move?"
We've had several sub-websites off the phoenixmmo.com domain; bugs.phoenixmmo.com (Flyspray), forum.phoenixmmo.com (vBulletin), beta.phoenixmmo.com (Typo3), wiki.phoenixmmo.com (MediaWiki), etc. It was becoming a management nightmare.
In order to streamline things, and make information much more readily available, we've chosen the Drupal CMS which allows us to pretty much put all of our various platforms under one umbrella and integrate each component together.
In additional to stock modules, we'll be adding more of our own as we move forward, such as our "Server Status" pane in the navigation pane.
So, tell us what you think!
Drupal mMmmm Good
I absolutely LOVE Drupal. Actually 90% of the sites I build I use Drupal for because of it's flexibility and the insane amount of useful mods for it. I also love that you can control every little visibility aspect, and...well..yeah it's awesome!!!!!!!!
I <3 Drupal too :)
I've been using Drupal on clan/guild web sites as well as my family's site. I absolutely love it too. This site is running the new 6.1 version. So, a lot of the modules I'm used to having aren't quite up to snuff yet, but they'll get there.
Funar
Has nothing to do with the topic at hand, but I wasn't going to start a topic on something so trivial.....anyways, just curious, how do you pronounce Funar? lol
Foo-Nar. :) The name was
Foo-Nar. :)
The name was discovered after a "geek moment" back around 1991 when I was playing with a ROT13 cipher, which was commonly used on Usenet News Groups to "hide" content that may be offensive to viewers or contained spoilers to stories/television. Most Usenet readers of the day had a way to "ROT13" the content of a post.
My first name ended up being "Funar." Since it was pronounceable, the name sort of stuck. :)
Whew!
Glad I was pronouncing it correctly. After seeing that post, I got a little nervous I was calling the Sheriff something funny.
LOL! You can consider the
LOL! You can consider the "U" an umlaut "U" (Ü)
I can understand the confusion on how to pronounce it, but I still don't understand how people get "Funner" out of it.
That's foony
lol, glad I asked. Imagine at some point there might be some voice chat through vent or other means, so I didn't want the first time to awkward with a name malfunction.
I was actually putting a little too much pizazz on it, and was thinking Foon-Air....say it with a french laugh afterwards and it'll work.
