Skill Progression?

What game did you play that had the worst skill progression and why? (most games it's level progression. - From level 5 to 6) What did you hate about levelling in this game and why?

What game did you play that had the easiest skill progression and why?

What game did you love the most?

Skill Progression?

going just by MMO, I liked the way EQ2's progression went. There was good xp from killing mobs, as well as doing quests. I enjoyed the mix, and being able to challenge higher level mobs for a bit more xp per kill.

Vanguard was pretty slow & painful in the beginning, they raised the xp a bit a few weeks into it and got a bit better. Havn't played in a few months, so I can't really say how it's working now.

The xp in SWG is kinda iffy. You get tons from quests, but very little from mobs. I can take on something 15 levels higher, but get the same xp as I do from mobs 2 levels higher.

So I guess I liked EQ2 the most, but I have more fun in SWG at the moment.

Did I come close to actually answering a question, or did it seem like opinionated rambling? lol

Even "opinionated rambling" is very helpful. :)

I've played all of those games, and I'd say you hit it pretty spot on - though did you ever play SWG pre-nge? My only issue with pre-nge is that you didn't really gain much xp from quests. Everything was from mobs, crafting, music, leading, etc.

I was around 6-8 months (don't really remember) before the NGE, but I didn't do tons of combat, I stuck to mostly Musician/Entertainment kinda stuff.

I've also put in some time in LOTRO, and that was more a quest based game as well......though same as VG, I havn't played in a while so I don't know what's been done to the mob xp.

I played SWG from the launch date until just before JTL. Yes, the XP was a grind, but I'd kill for that kind of MMO experience again.

The bad part was when you had no skill points left, and wanted to keep growing your character.

The worst part of the grind? Having to craft items that had no value, like starter pistols and the like. I'd like to see Phoenix make the low end craftables still useful, like ammunition, dynamite, etc.

Now, in WoW, until you are at 50 or so, you have no use to any group, and nothing you craft until you are maxed out is worth anything either, unless you are making potions. It's a big part of why I quit WoW after all those years of playing.
