Fridays at Work

Prairie's picture

So, Fridays at work are usually blissfully peaceful. No one really expects you to work right?

WRONG!

Sadly, I had a ton of work to do, and I'm not sure I got it all done before I left. Oh well. It'll be there for me when I get back from training.

Otherwise, I tend to love Fridays. They're the day you can finally feel that freedom of the weekend pass into you. You realize you don't have to go to bed early, and you don't have to get up early. You can stay up and write, and then read late into the morning in bed.

So, here is my ode to Friday:

Freedom
On the first day, I feel that sinking dread
that it will never end. I'll be here for long days
I'll be here for longer nights.
My mind is cluttered with freedom moments,
and I forget how deep the chain cuts.

On the second day, I wonder where I was.
The fighting stops, and the chain grows loose.
I no longer fight bonds at night.
Instinctively I know, it's still too early.
I know the pain of fighting it.

On the third day, I wonder when I knew freedom.
I think I remember sunshine, and light.
I think it was too long ago.
But maybe...I'll be lucky and feel it
Will I taste that freedom again?

The fourth day, and I can feel it slipping
I'm almost loosing control over my edge
And my mind fails me.
I go home to bed listlessly and exhausted.
Knowing it will never end.

But, on the fifth day, I wake refreshed.
Like a butterfly slipping out of a coccoon
I awake bright and excited.
Freedom is in the air, and everyone is enlightened.
I walk home with hope and joy.

That afternoon the chain is lifted.
I am free to do as I choose and when.
Life has been given.
I am free to live my life and enjoy it.
Until Monday comes again.

I design custom banners/flags and the like. We also just straight out sell flags retail, like US, State, Nation stock type stuff. Buncha goodies really. I dig the job, just the customers are getting worse and worse every year with rudeness and lack of common sense. A few months ago, I had someone in here that I had to explain that light bulbs need electricity.

We get those kind of issues

We get those kind of issues too especially since our clients are open on Saturdays. I'm still happy it's Friday; if it's a busy Friday, that just means it'll be Friday night even faster ;)
